Project Overview:

The Khalifa Bin Salman Port and Industrial Area at Hidd project represents a monumental endeavor in Bahrain’s infrastructure landscape, encompassing the meticulous planning, design, and construction of Phase I of a cutting-edge deep water port and approximately 700 hectares of reclamation. This transformative initiative not only provides a vital corridor for port access roadway but also lays the foundation for expansive industrial development.

Project Highlights:

In Phase I of this visionary project, fundamental infrastructure is meticulously crafted over approximately one third of the maximum area earmarked for industrial use. Key stakeholders include the Ministry of Works and Housing, Construction Projects Directorate (CPD), serving as the executing authority, and the Ministry of Industry, Industrial Area Directorate (IAD), along with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, Customs and Ports Affairs (CPA), as the esteemed end-users.

Key Construction Elements:

  • Dredging Operations: A colossal endeavor involving the movement of 24,000,000 cubic meters of dredged fill, laying the groundwork for expansive development.
  • Revetment Protection and Breakwater: The construction of a robust 12km revetment protection and breakwater system, comprising various layers including quarry run bund core, secondary armor, filter stone toe berm, and primary armor, ensuring durability and resilience against maritime forces.

Vessel Berthing Facilities: Cutting-edge vessel berthing facilities, including 1,800 line meters of gravity block quay wall designed to accommodate a diverse range of traffic, from containers and general cargo to dry bulk and roll-on roll-off operations, alongside provisions for small craft berths.
