Project Overview:

The ALBA Power Plant – PS5 project, undertaken in collaboration with Siemens LLC and under the expert consultancy of ESB International, represents a significant advancement in power distribution infrastructure at ALBA, Bahrain. This initiative is poised to elevate the efficiency and reliability of the power distribution system, catering to the evolving needs of ALBA’s operations.

Project Scope:

  1. SH9 220kV Substations:

    • Construction of control and relay buildings with basements, and GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) buildings with basements, ensuring optimal functionality and operational control.

  2. SH7 33kV Substations:

    • Implementation of control and relay buildings with basements, enhancing the resilience and efficiency of the 33kV distribution network.

  3. 220kV Reactor Structure:

    • Construction of a robust structure to accommodate four reactors, crucial for maintaining voltage stability and power quality.

  4. External Building and Civil Works:

    • Development of transformer bays, reactor bays, storage areas, tank bases/bunds, road works, stone pitching, cable ducts/trenches, and pipe racks, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.

  5. Civil and Building Works for Cable Installations:

    • Excavation and backfilling, installation of cable tiles, joint pits, duct banks, transition and draw pits, and various foundations for steel structures, facilitating efficient cable management and distribution.

  6. Miscellaneous Civil Works:

    • Execution of demolition works, installation of temporary fencing and gates, and road works, ensuring safety and operational efficiency during project implementation.

  7. Ancillary Structures:

    • Construction of retaining walls, precast kerbs, walkways, culverts, fire trench, storm drainage systems, and drainage channels, enhancing overall site functionality and resilience.
